Job Description

As a SharePoint Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and governance of Heathrow's SharePoint platform. You will work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into practical, scalable solutions. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and accessible way. Success in this role means delivering a reliable, secure, and user-focused SharePoint environment that supports Heathrow's operational and strategic goals.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Leading the design, configuration, and maintenance of SharePoint Online environments/solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational standards and security requirements.
  • Developing and implementing governance frameworks, policies, and best practices for SharePoint usage across the business.
  • Partnering with business units to gather requirements and deliver tailored solutions that enhance collaboration and information management.
  • Managing integrations between SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 services, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Providing expert guidance, training, and support to internal teams to maximise adoption and effective use of SharePoint.
  • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements to maintain a high-performing platform.
  • Staying up to date with Microsoft 365 developments and advising on opportunities to leverage new features and capabilities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in administering and configuring SharePoint Online within a large, complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of SharePoint architecture, governance, and security principles.
  • Hands-on experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx) development, including the design, development, deployment, and support of custom SharePoint solutions.
  • PowerShell scripting skills, including SharePoint Online, PnP PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and automation of administrative and governance activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Teams, OneDrive, Power Platform and Microsoft Graph.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

    Ideally, you'll have the following
  • Experience developing integrations using Microsoft Graph APIs and SharePoint REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with compliance and data protection requirements in a regulated environment.
  • Previous experience delivering user training, adoption programmes, and technical mentoring.
  • Experience supporting Copilot, Viva, and other modern Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies.
  • Experience with Power Automate and Power Apps for process automation and custom solutions.

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
