Maintenance Officer - Hackney

Full Time Monday to Friday, 37.5 Hours per Week

£29,873 - £32,855 + Overtime Opportunities

25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Premises Officer to join a busy and well-maintained educational environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance experience who takes pride in keeping buildings safe, compliant and operating efficiently.

Working as part of a supportive facilities team, you will play a key role in ensuring the site remains secure, functional and welcoming for staff, students and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Undertake general building repairs including basic joinery, plumbing, electrical and decorating works.
• Assist with the operation and maintenance of building services systems including HVAC, heating, pumps, BMS and access control systems.
• Support statutory compliance activities including fire alarm testing, legionella monitoring and routine safety inspections.
• Receive and manage deliveries across the site.
• Set up rooms and furniture for meetings, examinations and events.
• Liaise with external contractors and support works on site.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests through the facilities helpdesk system.
• Act as a key holder and support site security, including alarm activations where required.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has practical experience in building maintenance, facilities or estates services.
• Possesses good DIY and fault-finding skills across multiple trades.
• Takes a proactive, customer-focused approach to their work.
• Can work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Has basic computer skills and is comfortable using online systems.
• Is physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within facilities, estates or maintenance environments.
• Knowledge of plant and building systems.
• First Aid qualification.
• Experience working within education, healthcare or public sector environments.
• D1 licence entitlement for minibus driving.
