Multi-Skilled Air Conditioning and HVAC Engineer The engineer will help maintain safe, comfortable and energy-efficient environments and will work alongside Camdens electrical and mechanical engineers as part of the M&E Operations Team.
Key responsibilities Multi-Skilled Air Conditioning and HVAC Engineer
- Service, maintain and repair split, multi-split, VRV/VRF and DX systems.
- Maintain heat pumps, fan coil units, AHUs and extract and supply ventilation systems.
- Diagnose faults and replace components such as compressors, expansion valves, fan motors, PCB controls, sensors and contactors.
- Undertake refrigerant leak detection, recovery, pressure testing and system evacuation in accordance with F-Gas requirements.
- Carry out commissioning and seasonal performance inspections where required.
- Complete AHU inspections, filter and belt replacement, coil cleaning, condensate tray cleaning and drain testing.
- Inspect fans, motors, ventilation equipment and associated controls.
- Support the maintenance of pumps, pressurisation units, expansion vessels, calorifiers, plate heat exchangers, motorised valves and heating controls where competent.
- Identify underlying faults and recommend effective remedial work to improve performance and reduce repeat failures.
- Maintain accurate and timely records using Camdens CAFM system and issued mobile technology.
- Work live by recording findings, materials, actions and completion details while attending sites.
- Manage and prioritise an allocated workload to meet PPM and reactive maintenance targets.
- Liaise professionally with school staff, caretakers, building users, contractors and colleagues.
- Complete dynamic risk assessments and comply with permit-to-work, working-at-height and other relevant safety procedures.
- Maintain the work vehicle, tools and equipment appropriately.
Essential qualifications and experience Multi-Skilled Air Conditioning and HVAC Engineer
Candidates must be able to evidence: Multi-Skilled Air Conditioning and HVAC Engineer
- NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent recognised qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
- Current F-Gas Category 1 certification.
- Practical experience maintaining split, multi-split and VRV/VRF systems.
- Experience maintaining AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, heat pumps and commercial HVAC equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability.
- Experience delivering both PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Experience working independently in occupied buildings.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Competence using mobile devices or CAFM systems to maintain accurate job records.
Desirable experience or qualifications
- City & Guilds 18th Edition.
- Basic electrical fault-finding.
- BMS knowledge.
- Water Hygiene Awareness.
- IPAF or PASMA.
- Experience working within education, local authority, NHS or other public-sector estates.
- Experience maintaining associated mechanical plant.
