About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Business Analyst to lead and manage a team of Business Analysts across a diverse portfolio of IT and digital transformation projects.
The successful candidate will oversee business analysis and specification activities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality business and systems analysis that supports effective technology solutions aligned with organisational strategy and enterprise architecture.
Working closely with Project Managers, Product teams, and technical stakeholders, you will play a key role in translating business requirements into practical and scalable technology solutions. You will also support the development of analysis standards, promote best practices, and drive continuous improvement across the business analysis function.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage a team of Business Analysts
- Support the development and mentoring of team members
- Promote best practice across the business analysis function
Planning & Coordination
- Manage and coordinate analysis activities across multiple projects
- Support project planning, estimation, and prioritisation
- Ensure delivery timelines and objectives are met
Business Analysis & Solution Design
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements
- Produce high-quality functional and technical specifications
- Support solution design processes and systems analysis activities
- Translate business needs into effective technology solutions
Testing & Implementation Support
- Support system testing and user acceptance testing activities
- Assist with implementation and deployment planning
- Ensure solutions meet business and operational requirements
Collaboration Across Teams
- Work closely with Project Managers, Product Owners, UX teams, and technical stakeholders
- Build strong relationships across the organisation
- Facilitate communication between business and technical teams
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain analysis standards, governance, and documentation quality
- Identify opportunities for process improvement
- Promote consistency in analysis methods and delivery approaches
Data & Information Awareness
- Support data-related analysis activities
- Maintain awareness of information governance and data protection requirements
- Contribute to reporting and data structure improvements
Skills & Experience Required
- Significant experience as a Business Analyst within complex IT and digital environments
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle
- Previous team leadership or line management experience
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong technical understanding and systems analysis capability
- Experience producing functional and technical specifications
- Experience supporting solution design and implementation activities
- Strong knowledge of system testing and user acceptance testing
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Experience using analysis techniques, process modelling, and requirements gathering tools
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Understanding of data protection and information governance principles, including GDPR
- Awareness of enterprise data models and reporting structures
Desirable experience includes:
- Experience within education, assessment, or global organisations
- Understanding of product development lifecycles
- Customer-centric and user-focused design awareness
