£15,000 per annum based on a commitment of 15 to 20 working days per year

The Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is seeking experienced and diverse individuals to join the London Policing Board (LPB) and help shape the future, accountability, and reform within the Metropolitan Police Service.

Created following Baroness Casey's review of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), the LPB will support the Mayor of London in strengthening accountability, driving reform, and improving public trust and confidence in policing across London. The Board comprises of 13 members and meets at least 10 times a year.

As a Board Member, you will work alongside senior leaders across the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime to scrutinise MPS reform programmes, review risks and performance, assess financial accountability, and help drive lasting cultural change. This is a high-profile opportunity to influence the future of policing in one of the world's most diverse cities and ensure services better reflect and serve all Londoners.

We are seeking to appoint three new Board Members and welcome applications from individuals with senior-level experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion - We are looking for someone who has implemented EDI with proven positive outcomes into an organisation with a low maturity level regarding positive culture.
• Financial strategy and performance - We are looking for someone with strategic financial management and performance experience, in particular how you have supported a large organisation with competing strategic priorities and limited resources.
• Technology - We are looking for someone with knowledge of delivering technology to large organisations, including your knowledge of technological innovation, digital transformation or emerging technologies, relevant to policing and crime.

Applicants should demonstrate strategic thinking, sound judgement, collaborative leadership, the confidence to challenge constructively in complex environments and a strong understanding of London's diverse communities and policing challenges.

Security Vetting Clearance

The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security checks. Applicants must possess the legal right to work in the UK and have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.

Where are we based?

We operate a hybrid working model with office hubs currently at Union Street (near London Bridge) and Newlands Park (postcode SE26). On average, staff will work 2 days a week from an Office Hub, which may differ depending on the role requirements.
