Director of Fundraising

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the UK's largest and most ambitious health foundations at a pivotal stage of its development, as it embarks on a significant programme of fundraising growth, organisational transformation and long-term investment in philanthropic capability.

Salary: £90,000 - £100,000 dependent on experience
Location: Hybrid, min. 2dpw in Southwark

Guy's & St Thomas' Foundation is delivering an ambitious strategy designed to unlock the full potential of fundraising across the organisation as the UK's largest NHS Trust. With significant investment being made in people, systems, infrastructure and leadership, the Foundation is building a fundraising function capable of matching the scale of its ambition and the breadth of its impact.

This investment is already generating strong momentum. Fundraising income has grown significantly over the past year, Salesforce is being implemented to strengthen future capability, and work is underway to bring together the Foundation's charitable brands under a new One Foundation identity. Alongside this, plans are progressing for a landmark capital appeal for Evelina London Children's Hospital, creating a unique opportunity to shape one of the most exciting fundraising programmes in the sector.

The Foundation offers an exceptional fundraising proposition. As the charitable partner to the UK's largest NHS Trust and with strong Board support, growing philanthropic momentum and significant untapped opportunity (particularly across major giving, corporate partnerships and campaign fundraising), the organisation is entering an exciting new phase of growth.

The Director of Fundraising will play a central role in shaping fundraising strategy, building organisational capability and helping to embed a culture of fundraising across both the Foundation and wider Trust. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring someone who can operate confidently across organisational boundaries, influence stakeholders at the most senior levels and navigate a complex and evolving environment.

The successful candidate will balance strategic leadership with hands-on fundraising credibility, building strong relationships with major donors, corporate partners, senior volunteers, board members and Trust leaders alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the Foundation's fundraising strategy, driving long-term income growth and fundraising performance.
• Provide leadership across all income streams, building a high-performing and collaborative directorate.
• Lead the development of fundraising capability, infrastructure, systems and processes, including the ongoing Salesforce implementation.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with senior stakeholders across the Foundation, NHS Trust, Board, campaign volunteers, donors and partners.
• Strengthen fundraising culture across the organisation, helping embed the One Foundation vision and approach.
• Work closely with colleagues across Funding & Impact, Experience & Engagement and wider organisational functions to maximise opportunities for growth and impact.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• A strong track record of fundraising leadership, with personal expertise weighted to philanthropy and major gifts fundraising, and the credibility to lead a sophisticated high-value fundraising programme.
• Experience of delivering capital appeals, major fundraising campaigns or other large-scale transformational fundraising programmes.
• The ability to lead and influence effectively within complex stakeholder environments, including working across large organisations and without direct authority.
• Outstanding people leadership skills, with experience of developing teams, leading change and building organisational capability.
• Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working alongside senior leaders, trustees, volunteers and major supporters.
• The confidence to operate strategically while remaining willing to engage directly in fundraising activity when required.
• An appetite for building something distinctive and helping shape the future of a fundraising function during a period of significant growth and transformation.
