A well-established hotel chain has a great opportunity for a friendly, professional and customer-focused hospitality candidate to provide guest assistance, visitor information, luggage support and food and beverage service within a busy Central London hotel.

PLEASE NOTE:This is not a Security role and candidates must be prepared to carry out Food and Beverage Assistant duties which includes working behind the Bar.

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Hotel Porter / Food and Beverage Assistant who enjoys delivering excellent customer service in a busy hotel environment.

Working as the Hotel Porter / Food and Beverage Assistant, you will offer information and assistance to hotel guests and visitors, including details on hotel facilities, local attractions, dining, entertainment, transport, recreation, tours, health and beauty treatments, childcare, cultural events and shopping.

As the Hotel Porter / Food and Beverage Assistant, you will also support food and beverage service, including bar and lobby service, while maintaining a professional image and providing a courteous, helpful and efficient guest experience at all times.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Hotel Porter / Food and Beverage Assistant include:

  • Guest Welcome and Luggage Support: Welcome guests on arrival, assist with luggage, escort guests to rooms and provide information on hotel and in-room facilities
  • Concierge Desk Support: Attend to guests and visitors at the concierge desk and in the hotel lobby in a courteous, professional and efficient manner
  • Meeting and Conference Rooms: Assist with the setup and preparation of meeting, conference and event spaces, including arranging furniture, equipment, signage, stationery, refreshments and other event requirements according to the agreed layout
  • Local Information and Bookings: Maintain up-to-date information on restaurants, entertainment venues, transport links, car hire, airport pick-up services, cultural events, shopping and other guest services
  • Guest Enquiries: Answer customer enquiries politely and efficiently, seeking support from other departments where required
  • Messages and Correspondence: Record, pass on and deliver guest messages, correspondence and internal communications promptly
  • Food and Beverage Service: Serve drinks and snacks in the bar and lobby areas, following licensing law and weights and measures requirements
  • Restaurant and Bar Support: Maintain accurate customer reservation records, present menus, explain menu items and provide accurate information about drinks and food options
  • Kitchen Liaison: Liaise with kitchen staff and serve the correct type, quality and quantity of food in line with procedures
  • Deliveries and Stock Support: Check and accept deliveries, verify use-by and expiry dates, assist with orders and requisitions, and complete required paperwork
  • Guest Accounts and Payments: Follow supplier deposit and payment policies, apply correct laundry charges and ensure money held at the concierge desk is kept secure
  • Complaint Handling: Handle complaints promptly and professionally, escalating to senior reception staff, guest relations or the Duty Manager where needed
  • Hotel Presentation: Keep the concierge desk and lobby area clean and tidy, and ensure menus, brochures and promotional materials are available and well presented
  • Shift Handover: Obtain guest lists, maintain booking records and ensure complete, accurate handovers between shifts
  • General Hotel Support: Carry out minor repairs in guest bedrooms and public areas when necessary and ensure duties are completed in a timely and professional manner and in accordance with all health and safety procedures.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous hospitality, hotel, guest services, front of house, concierge, bar or food and beverage experience would be beneficial
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Friendly, polite and professional manner with a positive approach to guests and colleagues
  • Confident telephone manner and the ability to record and pass on messages accurately
  • Good organisation skills with the ability to maintain records, bookings, brochures and guest information
  • Able to provide accurate information and assistance to hotel guests and visitors
  • Comfortable carrying out food and beverage duties, including working behind the bar
  • Able to work as part of a team and support colleagues across departments
  • Reliable, punctual and able to maintain high standards of presentation and service
  • Must understand that this is not a security role
