Chief of Staff (focused on Property) £120-130K + bonus
Outstanding opportunity for an entrepreneurial style CofS with top residential property skills who will tackle both the small and big projects. Overseeing a property portfolio and bringing a focused grip on the budgets and accountability of the head of each sector. Part of the role is also dealing with HR (assisted with the CFO) dealing with contracts and HR issue that arise both in the residences and the companies (approx 40 staff) People and HR
- Lead HR across the group: recruitment, onboarding, probation, performance and capability, disciplinary and grievance matters, and exits
- Draft and maintain employment documentation - contracts, letters, policies and procedures - keeping everything defensible and in plain language
- Advise the principals and senior team on people decisions, including sensitive and high-profile situations, and manage the relationships with external advisers
- Manage freelance and contractor arrangements, including engagement terms, changes in scope and terminations
Team and operational leadership
- Oversee staffing and day-to-day operations across the group's commercial sites - offices, studio and gallery - working with departmental heads to keep each running
- Lead the private household and estate teams across the principals' UK and international residences, including estate managers, housekeepers and wider support staff
- Build and lead new teams as ventures, sites and properties come online, from initial staffing plans through to ongoing management
Legal and commercial
- Review and negotiate commercial leases, licences and contracts across the group's properties and productions
- Draft and review NDAs, engagement letters and other production and business documentation
- Instruct and manage external counsel on matters requiring specialist advice, and hold them to time and cost
- Lead the setup of new business entities and their operating infrastructure
- Handle data protection and compliance matters across the group, including UK GDPR
Property and operations
- Manage the portfolio of properties held on behalf of the principals - short-let set-up, agency relationships, pricing, insurance, compliance and day-to-day issues, UK and overseas
- Manage residential and commercial property acquisitions - sourcing, due diligence, negotiation and transaction management
- Project manager refurbishment and works programmes from concept through contractor procurement, budget control and delivery
Chief of Staff function
- Act as a trusted adviser to the principals and senior leadership, with visibility across the group's businesses and ventures
- Coordinate across Projects and the family office structure, keeping approach and documentation consistent
- Run a standing rhythm with the principals and heads of function so that decisions are recorded, owned and followed through
- Provide oversight and organisational support across the principals' private and business interests, including the family's charitable interests and funding proposals, and take on ad hoc projects.
