Health and Social Care Graduate - Learning Support Assistant

Location: Barking and Dagenham

Are you a Health and Social Care Graduate looking to begin a rewarding career supporting children and young people? We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and motivated graduate to work as a Learning Support Assistant in a special school in Barking and Dagenham.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in education and training who wants to make a genuine difference to pupils with additional learning and support needs.

The Role - Health and Social Care Graduate

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to support pupils in their learning, development and wellbeing. You will help create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment across Barking and Dagenham.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and personal development.
  • Helping pupils participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Working as part of a supportive education and care team.
  • Following individual learning and support plans.
  • Contributing to a positive approach to education and training within the school.

About You

We are particularly interested in graduates who have studied Health and Social Care, Psychology, Education, Sociology or a related subject. Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.

You should be patient, compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic about helping pupils achieve their potential. Experience of education and training environments would be advantageous.
